The
Swiss Hutte is an old Farm House built in the mid 1800s
by the Nicholson Family. It has been under continuous operation
as an Inn for the past 50 years . In the mid 1970s a second
building was added to the Property with a total of 12 rooms .
The Property includes the main building or the old Inn, the second
building as mentioned with two stories each with six rooms for
a total of 12. There is an outdoor pool area with a 25 x 45 swimming
pool, a maintenance building and a brook fed pond with a shaded
deck, all surrounded by beautiful gardens, large trees, and the
Berkshire Hills in a hidden valley. In 1986, the present Innkeepers,
Gert and Cindy Alper, purchased the Swiss Hutte. Since then the
Swiss Hutte has been practically rebuilt from the ground up.
Gert
Alper was born in Zurich, Switzerland and trained as a Chef
in Luzern. As his many reviews and letters attest he has
given the Swiss Hutte a European flair and has created a
country Inn which measures up to many of the famous Inns
in the US or Europe. It is no accident that Robert Mondavi
(of the Mondavi Winery ) and his wife chose the Swiss Hutte
as their destination in the Berkshires. The Swiss Hutte
is just what you would expect from a country inn with a
Swiss Innkeeper. Its clean, charming, friendly, comfortable
and it features an outstanding kitchen. Cindy, Gerts
wife, is a trained nurse and a perfect Hostess. Her hospitality
will astound you and that is reflected by the entire staff
. Enjoy the web site and send us an e-mail if you want more

Dear Gert and Cindy:
We remember with great pleasure our stay in your lovely Swiss
Hutte. It was such a nice feeling to experience another Spring
in New England because ours in California happened about two
months earlier.
We send this photo back and we are proud to be displayed in
your restaurant.
Don't forget to visit us in Napa Valley.
Sincerely,
Margrit and Robert Mondavi
